Financial support for research

The Association for Terp Research aims to "promote archaeological research of terps, mounds, and related monuments and sites in the broadest sense of the word." In this context, the association provides financial support.

Financial support can be requested for:

• Dissertations and other publications related to the association's objectives.
• Research related to the association's objectives such as analyses (^14C, isotopes, DNA). This may also include making reconstructions.

Who can apply?

Researchers or students, foundations or associations (such as museums).

Maximum reimbursement

We finance up to €3,500 per application; in exceptional cases, a higher reimbursement may be granted.

Conditions

The following conditions apply to the provision of financial support:

• The research or publication has a connection with mounds and terps.
• We do not reimburse personnel costs.
• We do not reimburse any research that is legally required (under Malta law).
• The applicant must prepare a project plan or project description including a budget and a balanced coverage plan.
• Embedding/framing within a broader study or story is desirable.
• Co-financing is desired.
• The recipient of the contribution will provide an article in our newsletter or annual report presenting the results. If possible, a lecture will also be given to the members of the association, for example following an AGM.
• The board decides whether or not to grant a financial contribution. Discussion about this with the board is not possible.

Procedure

Send the project plan/project description and budget + balanced coverage plan to: terpenvereniging@gmail.com. You will be notified within 6 weeks of receipt whether we will award a grant to your project.

Payment

Invoices up to the promised subsidy amount are sent directly to the association or the treasurer. That one pays the bill.
